"The Last Star" is the final book in Rick Yancey's "The 5th Wave" trilogy. It continues the story of Cassie Sullivan, Ben Parish (Zombie), Ringer, and Evan Walker in a world devastated by alien invasion. The remaining humans are struggling to survive against the Others, an alien species.

The series follows Tally Youngblood, the protagonist, as she navigates a world where everyone undergoes a surgical procedure at 16 to become "pretty." In "Pretties," Tally has become a part of the "pretty" society after undergoing the transformation. However, she starts to uncover the darker truth behind the operation and the society she lives in.
